Overview

Plan & Play is a mobile planning system for football coaches and academies managing the demands of multiple teams. It brings schedules, session plans and attendance into one focused workspace, reducing the preparation around the game so more attention can stay where it belongs: on the pitch.

Built from the Game

The identity takes its cues directly from football. A hexagon drawn from the structure of the ball becomes a symbol of unity, while vivid pitch green brings energy to a near-black interface. Ubuntu’s open curves keep rapid updates readable and give the product a modern, approachable voice without softening its professional focus.

Less Admin, More Coaching

Market analysis exposed a category crowded with feature-heavy platforms and few focused mobile tools. Seven in-depth coach interviews, personas, Jobs to Be Done and journey maps narrowed the product around three priorities: multi-team scheduling, fast session planning and reliable attendance. Daily, weekly and monthly views, automated reminders, conflict alerts and quick duplication keep recurring work close at hand.

From Session to Schedule

Creating an event follows a guided sequence. Coaches choose a training session, match or team event, then add the team, timing, location and focus before building the plan itself. Smart defaults reduce repeat entry, while individual drills can include descriptions and supporting images or video. Each step stays focused, but the finished session remains connected to the wider calendar.

The Whole Team in View

The interactive prototype connects upcoming events, player records, session details and attendance in one consistent environment. User testing refined the hierarchy and removed patterns that caused confusion, turning research into concrete interface decisions. The result is a tested product direction that keeps operational detail visible without letting it take over the coach’s day.
